The little guy has surgery tomorrow morning at 9am to repair a groin hernia (common for premie boys) and hopefully this umbilical hernia - if he tolerates the anesthesia well. They usually leave the belly button alone to resolve itself and don't resort to surgery until 5 years of age. That is a LONG time to live with a outie that big! It doesn't bother him, except for lately his monitor cords are being pressed against it and I think that discomforts him. While at the hospital, he'll recover in the NICU and get to visit all his old nurses. Lets hope this is the last time we'll be visiting St. E's for a while!
